Betsy Bates was the President of the recently sold Corporate Green Interior Foliage.
Betsy Bates is a native Texan growing up in West Texas town of Lubbock, born into a family of cotton farmers.
She graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Agriculture and double major in Park Administration and Landscape Architecture with a minor in Horticulture. After graduation, she was hired by the Dallas Park and Recreation Department as a District Supervisor and then as a Landscape Architect.
The Dallas Park Department taught me the value of my word. When you tell someone you are going to do something “You Do It!!”
Ready for the challenge of “Private Enterprise”, she accepted the job as Landscape Architect for Las Colinas Landscape, owned by the late Mr. Ben Carpenter, who developed Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. The day before reporting for work she went out to Lake Carolyn and counted 69 cranes that outlined the Las Colinas development skyline representing the intense building flurry that occurred in the early 1980’s!! “What a fabulous opportunity and educational experience for a professional young woman. I will always remember Mr. Carpenter as one of the most brilliant people I had the pleasure to work for!”
January of 1985, Betsy decided it was her time to experience the possible success of starting her own new business. She named it Corporate Green Interior Foliage specializing in Commercial Real Estate working with owners and managers. Starting with a water bucket, scissors, feather duster and a ton of ambition, the business grew slowly but surely by referrals. The business grew from 1 employee in 1985 to 35 employees in 2016. Corporate Green Interior Foliage reported $2.9MM in sales revenue in 2015.
Betsy is happily married to André Harvey for 23 years who was Vice President of Corporate Green Interior Foliage. “Andre’ has been an instrumental part of the Corporate Green success story.”
